International TV streaming service MHz Choice has picked up two drama series from Wales for audiences in the US and Canada.
MHz Choice is adding two Welsh series to its streaming offerings: the 30-minute drama FFLAM and the half-hour lockdown drama Lifelines (Cyswllt). Both are S4C Original series produced by Vox Pictures (Keeping Faith) and distributed by Videoplugger.
Fflam
Fflam is a sensual, taut drama starring Gwyneth Keyworth (Hidden), Richard Harrington (Hinterland), Memet Ali Alabora (Keeping Faith), Mali Ann Rees (Hidden), and Pinar Ögün (Keeping Faith).
Adapted from an original story by screenwriter and author Gwenno Hughes, the six-episode series centers on Noni (Keyworth), whose future with Deniz (Alabora) looks bright as they build a new life together in Cardiff — until she sees a ghost from her past: her husband Tim, who was killed in a terrible fire in Edinburgh, or a man who looks very much like him. Will Noni be able to resist temptation, or will she consider (re)kindling the relationship?
Lifelines (Cyswllt)
Nominated at Celtic Media Festival 2021 in the Short Drama category, Lifelines is a a unique response to the Covid-19 lockdown — providing a snapshot of life during a pandemic and illustrating the effect of lockdown on individuals and families. Shot over three weeks in real pandemic time, using laptops and mobile phones, reflecting the changes occurring in our lives as they were happening, the series interweaves the stories of family and friends when what it means to be human is being challenged and redefined.
Written and directed by Pip Broughton (Keeping Faith), the cast of the three-episode series includes Mark Lewis Jones (Gangs of London), Hannah Daniel (Keeping Faith), Aneirin Hughes (Hinterland), Catherine Ayers (Living a Lie), Suzanne Packer (In My Skin), and Catrin Stewart (Bang).
MHz Choice hasn’t set the premiere dates for Fflam and Lifelines yet.
