Darkness: Those Who Kill: Season 4 (Den som dræber – Fanget af mørket) (Denmark)

The eight-episode fourth season of this popular Nordic Noir series opens with Patrick, a young gang member, leaving a celebration with friends after his release from prison, only to be shot dead in the street. When it becomes clear to Detective Frederik Havgaard (Simon Sears, Ride Upon the Storm, Secrets We Keep) that the murder wasn’t an instance of simple gang retaliation that it initially appeared to be, he brings criminal profiler (and girlfriend) Louise Bergstein (Natalie Madueño, Follow the Money, The Rain) on the case.

With the help of her mentor, the experienced Swedish investigator Gunnar Nymark (Dag Malmberg, The Bridge, Top Dog), Louise creates a profile that points them in the direction of an organized, determined, and ruthless murderer. Only when a controversial lawyer with clear connections to Patrick and his affiliated gang ends up dead does Louise manage to identify the actual killer, and an intense search to capture him begins.

Darkness: Those Who Kill: Season 4 begins streaming in the US on Thursday, October 2.

Crime Scene Sweden: Season 12 (Svenska Fall) (Sweden)

By the end of every episode, we have a comprehensive understanding of the case as well as new, untold details that shed fresh light on the infamous crime.

Little Did I Know (Det är något som inte stämmer) (Sweden)

This critically-acclaimed and award-winning feature film follows one woman’s intertwined journeys of self-discovery at different ages, offering a painful yet hopeful and edifying view on love. Fifty-year-old Petra (Alexandra Rapaport, The Sandhamn Murders, Gåsmamman) seems to have it all: the perfect marriage, a successful career, and two wonderful children. But everything unravels when her husband, Anders (Shanti Roney, Arne Dahl, Snow Angels), informs her that he loves another woman and wants a divorce. As she looks back at her teen-aged self, we get to know 15-year-old Petra (Ella Hammarsten Liedberg, Seaside Hotel), a rowdy young woman in pursuit of true happiness and love.

Little Did I Know premieres in the US on Thursday, October 16.

A Life’s Worth (Sweden)

This acclaimed, multilingual (Swedish, English, Serbian, and Serbo-Croatian) wartime drama series, inspired by the first Swedish UN battalion in Bosnia in 1993, follows four brave Swedish soldiers who voluntarily ventured into the heart of Bosnia’s brutal conflict, as they navigate the treacherous line between duty and humanity.

The six-episode series delves into the lives of Forss (Maxwell Cunningham, Blinded, Top Dog), Babic (Toni Prince, Agent Hamilton, Beck), Strand (Edvin Ryding, Young Royals, Gåsmamman), and Kilpinen (Erik Enge, End of Summer, Delete Me) during their first overseas service in the tangled and bloody conflict in the Balkans. Accompanied by their battalion commander, Andreasson (Johan Rheborg, Agatha Christie’s Hjerson, The Glass Dome), who is torn between the desire to intervene and the duty to follow orders, the young men soon realize that the mission proves impossible to solve by peaceful means alone.

A Life’s Worth premieres in the US with two episodes on Thursday, October 30, followed by one episode every Thursday through November 27.

Unless otherwise noted, all of the above programs are shown in their original language(s) with English subtitles and will premiere in the US exclusively on Viaplay on Prime Channels and other Viaplay partner channels, starting on the dates shown above. (Note that scheduling changes can occur at any time and without prior notice.)
