Netflix announced today the premiere date for Season 2 of its Spanish hospital drama, Breathless.

Following on from the events in Season 1, the second season of Breathless (aka Respira) finds the once-public Joaquín Sorolla hospital is now a privately-run one, which is challenging both the values and the principles of its medical staff.
But there’s more going on with the doctors and residents than the change in the hospital’s ownership.
Having gotten her way, Patricia (Najwa Nimri, Money Heist, Holy Family), the president of the Valencian Regional Government, continues her fight against cancer while growing increasingly close to oncologist Néstor (Borja Luna, Cable Girls, Sky High).
Assistant physician Jésica (Blanca Suárez, Cable Girls, Jaguar), considered the best surgeon at the hospital, is trying to regain her usual self confidence, but she’s torn between her boyfriend, hospital director Lluís (Alfonso Bassave, Thursday’s Widows, Grand Hotel), and resident physician Biel (Manu Ríos, Élite, Muted).
Pilar (Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, Velvet, Velvet Colección), the head of surgery, is still grappling with her son’s addictions, while resident physician Quique (Xóan Fórneas, Red Queen, 3 Caminos), who’s become involved with her son, may find an unexpected ally in Pilar when the hospital’s new management pushes him to make a questionable decision.
On top of all that, the arrival of a renowned oncologist, Sophie (Rachel Lascar, Berlin, The Chalk Line), threatens to turn the entire place upside down.
Breathless: Season 2, a Netflix Series, premieres globally on Friday, October 31, exclusively on Netflix.
Also returning for the new eight-episode season are Ana Rayo (Past Lies), Macarena de Rueda (Love, Divided), Blanca Martínez (In Love All Over Again), Abril Zamora (Holy Family), and Marwa Bakhat. In addition to Rachel Lascar, music artist Pablo Alborán, Gustavo Salmerón (Rotten Legacy), and Claudia Traisac (See You in Another Life) also join the cast of the second season.
