The North American premiere date for Evilside, a Nordic noir crime thriller series from Finland, has been set.
Set in a small fishing village on a remote island in the Bay of Bothnia in Northern Finland, Evilside (Korvessa kulkevi) revolves around Johanna (Olivia Ainali, Bordertown, Bordertown: The Mural Murders), a 16-year-old outcast bullied by her peers. When her only friend, fellow teen Aapo (Olavi Angervo, Star Boys), is the victim of a ritualistic murder, evidence points to Johanna as the culprit.
As the prime suspect in the boy’s homicide, made worse by the whole community, a rather superstitious lot, increasingly turning against her, Johanna tries to stay alive and clear her name by trying to solve the mystery of who the real killer is — someone who is still on the loose.
Meanwhile, local police call in Detective Ulla Penttinen (Amira Khalifa, Stop Nyqvist, Piece of My Heart) to investigate the case, as she specializes in cases involving teenagers. She becomes convinced of Johanna’s innocence and tries to prove it. But will she be able to do this before it’s too late?
Evilside, a Walter Presents title, premieres in the US and Canada as a six-episode binge on Friday, April 4, exclusively on the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel, as well as PBS Passport in the US.
Costars include Saimi Kahri (Piece of My Heart), Jakob Öhrman (Helsinki Syndrome), Dennis Nylund (Enemy of the People), Matti Onnismaa (Helsinki Crimes), Pentti Korhonen (The Paradise), and Mika Nuojua (All the Sins), amongst others.
