Netflix has set the global premiere date for Billionaire Island, the streamer’s latest series from Norway. Check out the trailer.
From Anne Bjørnstad and Eilif Skodvin, the creators of Lilyhammer and Beforeigners, comes Billionaire Island (Lakseøya), a new dramedy series starring Trine Wiggen (Wisting, Beforeigners, Varg Veum).
Filmed on the island of Frøya, Trøndelag, Billionaire Island revolves around Julie Lange (Wiggen), the ruthless owner of Marlax, a Norwegian fish farming company. She’s planning a hostile takeover of her local rival to become the world’s largest salmon producer — pitting one family against the other and old traditions against new ambitions in the process.
Billionaire Island premieres globally on Thursday, September 12, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now by visiting www.netflix.com/billionaireisland.)
The cast includes Svein Roger Karlsen (Home Ground), Ragne Grande (Possession), Kåre Conradi (Norsemen), Oddgeir Thune (Home for Christmas), Vetle Røsten Granås (Everybody Hates Johan), Nemi Storm, Hanne Skille Reitan (Beforeigners), Tor Ivar Hagen (Hagen), Benjamin Bakkeid, Elisabeth Matheson (Kon-Tiki), Bjarne Brøndbo (Helt perfekt), Axel Bøyum (Witch Hunt), Manish Sharma (Beforeigners), Frank Kjosås (Exit), and Bjørn Sundquist (Ragnarok).
A production of Rubicon (Lilyhammer, Beforeigners), the series is created and written by Anne Bjørnstad and Eilif Skodvin, produced by Gudny Hummelvoll (Occupied), and executive produced by Ivar Køhn (Atlantic Crossing). The conceptual director is Marit Moum Aune (Struggle for Life).
