Netflix has announced the start of production on She Said Yes (working title), a new German romantic comedy film.
In She Said Yes (working title), a failed marriage proposal inadvertently reveals to Mavi (Beritan Balci, Elaha), a young German-raised Turkish woman in Hamburg, that she is part of a super-wealthy Turkish dynasty in Istanbul, setting off a culture clash of the first order.
In an instant, Mavi has a giant new family, full of glamorous relatives and a domineering grandmother (Meral Perin, The Diplomat) she never knew existed, plus an entirely new perspective on where she comes from and on her life so far. To come to terms with this sudden and drastic change, Mavi must find the balance between the Occident and the Orient, and between her new-found family and her fiancé, Can (Sinan Gülec), as intrigues and temptations put their relationship to the test.
The cast also includes Serkan Çayoğlu (Wolf), Katja Riemann (Our Miracle Years), Caro Daur (Die Discounter), Cansu Tosun (Murder by the Lake), Mehmet Ateşçi (Sixty Minutes), Kerem Can (Berlin Station), Ilknur Boyraz (Barbarians), Aykut Kayacik (Mona & Marie), Berke Cetin (Zeit Verbrechen), Nursel Köse (The Yard), Anja Karmanski (We Were the Lucky Ones), and Alperen Şahin (Barbaros: Sword of the Mediterranean).
