Even though the opening ceremony for the Paris 2024 Olympics happens on Friday, July 24, the first events — football/soccer and rugby — actually begin today.

And while the new Spanish drama series Olympo isn’t about the Olympic Games, it is about top athletes, specifically the country’s (fictional) best athlethes, who train at the Pirineos High Performance Center. Amongst them is Amaia, the captain of the national synchronized swimming team, who demands only the best from herself and doesn’t allow any mistakes.

But when Amaia’s teammate and best friend, Núria, outstrips her for the first time, Amaia realizes that some athletes are inexplicably improving their performance. (Hmm…)

Now, after years of pushing their bodies to the limit and sacrificing their lives for the sport, they face a dilemma: How far are they willing to go?

The cast includes Clara Galle (“Through My Window” films), Nira Osahia, Agustín Della Corte (Society of the Snow), Nuno Gallego (Elite), María Romanillos (Paraíso), Martí Cordero (4 estrellas), Juan Perales (4 estrellas), Andy Duato (HIT), and Najwa Khliwa (Menudas piezas), amongst others.

A production of Zeta Studios (Elite), the series is created by Jan Matheu, Laia Foguet, and Ibai Abad, and directed by Marçal Forès, Daniel Barone, Ibai Abad, and Ana Vázquez.

The premiere date for Olympo has not been announced yet, but you can set a reminder for it now. Stay tuned for updates.
