Netflix has set the global premiere date for Cooking Up Murder: Uncovering the Story of César Román (El rey del cachopo), a true-crime docuseries from Spain.
Cooking Up Murder: Uncovering the Story of César Román is a three-part docuseries that analyzes a murder case implicating César Román, a Spanish chef who built a career in the spotlight through a web of secrets and false identities.
Román, a restaurateur known as “the king of cachopo” (cachopo is a dish similar to a cordon bleu from the Asturias region in the north of Spain), was arrested in November 2018 for the murder of Heidi Paz, his 25-year-old Honduran girlfriend, and the dismemberment of her body. He fled Madrid after these heinous crimes and got work in a restaurant in Zaragoza under a false identity. It was there that the police captured him after a three-month nationwide manhunt. The trial of Román made headlines across Spain; it culminated with a guilty verdict in 2021.
Cooking Up Murder: Uncovering the Story of César Román premieres globally on Friday, May 10, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
