Netflix has set the global premiere date for the highly-anticipated Money Heist spinoff series Berlin. Check out the teaser/date announcement video.
In the global hit Spanish series Money Heist, Pedro Alonso (The Embassy, The Ministry of Time) played one of the fan-favorite characters, Berlin, and he is reprising the role of the clever and hedonistic thief for the aptly-named spinoff, the prequel series Berlin.
For Berlin, there are only two things that are sure to turn a bad day into a great one: love and a payday worth millions. These are what keep Berlin going through his golden years — a time when he still has no inkling of his illness and hasn’t gotten trapped like a rat in the Spanish Mint. This is where he starts preparing one of his most extraordinary heists: making jewels worth €44 million disappear like some sort of magic trick. To do it, he’ll enlist the help of one of the three gangs he’s ever stolen with.
Berlin, a Netflix Series, premieres globally on Friday, December 29, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
Costarring alongside Pedro Alonso are Michelle Jenner (The Cook of Castamar) as Keila, an expert in electronic engineering; Tristán Ulloa (Cocaine Coast) as Damián, a philanthropic professor and Berlin’s confidant; Begoña Vargas (High Seas) as Cameron, a kamikaze who always lives on the edge; Julio Peña Fernández (Through My Window) as Roi, Berlin’s faithful attendant/sidekick; and Joel Sánchez as Bruce, the relentless man of action in the gang.
Also reprising their Money Heist roles are Itziar Ituño and Najwa Nimri as policewomen Raquel Murillo and Alicia Sierra, respectively. Additional cast members include Samantha Siqueiros (You Cannot Hide), Julien Paschal (One Year, One Night), Masi Rodríguez, and Rachel Lascar (Elite).
Created by Álex Pina (Money Heist, Sky Rojo) and Esther Martínez Lobato (Money Heist, Sky Rojo), the eight-episode Berlin is written by Álex Pina, Esther Martínez Lobato, David Barrocal, David Oliva, and Lorena G. Maldonado. It is directed by Albert Pintó (Sky Rojo), David Barrocal (Sky Rojo), and Geoffrey Cowper (Day Release).
