Jakob Oftebro (Black Crab, Monster, 1864) returns soon to our screens as superspy Carl Hamilton in the second season of Agent Hamilton, the Swedish TV series inspired by Jan Guillou‘s best-selling series of “Coq Rouge/Carl Hamilton” novels.

The new season finds Hamilton, a former Swedish intelligence operative trained by the US CIA and Navy SEALs to become part of an illegal black-ops cell within the Swedish military, is a man in love. With the lovely Lykke (Félice Jankell, Snabba Cash), from whom he keeps many secrets, particularly when she asks about his work and when he leaves her at a moment’s notice to go handle something important, like save the world. (How much would she brag on him if she only knew!)

In the first of four two-part stories in Season 2, Hamilton goes to France to investigate the murder of someone he knows, a Swedish attack diver, during a top-secret NATO operation in the Mediterranean. Hamilton’s next mission is in Kiruna, the northernmost city in Sweden, after a truck driver hauling mysterious cargo was stopped at a customs checkpoint on the Swedish-Finnish border and then killed in a shoot-out.

The third story sees Hamilton head to Belarus on a rescue mission after a Swedish-Chinese scientist is kidnapped for the weapons technology she invented, followed by the abduction of someone close to him. And in the final story, Hamilton is sent to Warsaw to protect a Swedish accountant, who’s been leaking information about the Polish oil company he works for, which leads to Hamilton discovering a conspiracy.

Agent Hamilton: Season 2 premieres in the US and Canada on Tuesday, April 11, exclusively on MHz Choice.

The Season 2 cast includes Karin Bengtsson (Beck), Grégory Fitoussi (Spiral), Joi Johannsson (Rig 45), Xavier Lemaître (Lupin), Jimmy Lindström (The Triggermen), Anders Mossling (The Bridge), Götz Otto (Murder by the Lake), Magnus Roosmann (Gåsmamman), and Mats Rudal (The Sandhamn Murders), amongst others.
