North American SVOD streaming service Topic has set the premiere date for the Finnish- and English-language Euro noir espionage crime thriller series Bullets.
Bullets centers on two women: an undercover officer of Supo, the Finnish Security Intelligence Service, who goes by the alias Mari Saari (Krista Kosonen, Beforeigners, Second Chance), and Madina Taburova (Sibel Kekilli, Tatort: Borowski, Game of Thrones), a Chechen-born terrorist.
After orchestrating suicide bombings across Europe for a decade and then faking her own death, Madina travels to Finland under a new identity, forced to be a mule for a drug lord in Belgium while being hunted by a crime lord’s henchman. Meanwhile, Mari has infiltrated a refugee center, posing as a social worker, where she encounters Madina without knowing who the woman really is — yet.
Given the nature of Mari’s undercover assignment and that of an investigation by the Finnish police’s drug unit, led by Detective Superintendent Timo Viita (Tommi Korpela, Shadow Lines, Deadwind), a joint operation between Supo and the drug unit is put in motion, with Mari befriending Madina in order to gain information and intelligence for both law enforcement teams.
But nothing is as it seems with Madina. Her reason for coming to Finland has nothing to do with death and destruction, but in order to achieve her objective, Madina is blackmailed into using her terrorist skills for nefarious purposes. It is up to Mari to thwart the plot and prevent a deadly attack.
Bullets premieres in the US and Canada with its first three (of ten) episodes on Thursday, October 27, exclusively on Topic and its digital channels, including Topic on Amazon. New episodes will debut weekly through the show’s conclusion.
Costars in the series include Dragomir Mrsic (Alex, The Triggermen), Jani Volanen (Deadwind), Leo Sjöman (Hooked), Adra Al-Aliáyat, Outi Mäenpää (Beyond), Nika Savolainen (Man in Room 301), Jasmin Mora, Sherwan Haji (Roba), and Koen De Bouw (Professor T., Salamander).
