Inspired by true events, Barracuda Queens follows a group of young women who commit burglaries in an attempt to liberate themselves from the expectations on women — long before feminism became a household idea. The show draws a raw image of a world where some get away with crime while others do not.

The Barracuda Queens are a group of disaffected teenage girls who are are high-achieving students and daughters by day and ruthless thieves at night. Bored of their privileged lives in the affluent Stockholm suburb of Djursholm, they become involved in an escalating campaign of house burglaries targeting their naive, rich neighbors. And no one will ever suspect them — right?

The cast includes Alva Bratt (A Class Apart), newcomer Tindra Monsen, Sandra Zubovic (JJ+E), Tea Stjärne (The Wizard’s Daughter), Sarah Gustafsson (Eagles), Carsten Björnlund (Rita), Izabella Scorupco (Hidden: First Born), Max Ulveson (Dancing Queens), Johannes Kuhnke (The Rain), Mirja Turestedt (Rebecka Martinsson), Michaela Thorsén (Spring Tide), Meliz Kargle (Johan Falk), and Gino Estera (Bonus Family), amongst others.

Camilla Ahlgren (Quicksand, The Bridge) is the head writer, with Sofie Forsman (Young Royals), Tove Forsman (Young Royals), and Veronica Zacco (Top Dog) as co-writers. The series will be directed by Amanda Adolfsson (Bonus Family), and produced by Frida Asp and Fatima Varhos through their newly formed production company Asp Varhos. The two previously worked with Netflix on the critically-acclaimed Swedish series Quicksand and Love & Anarchy.

Said Camilla Ahlgren:

“This is a unique series that I have never been close to creating or writing before. I am so happy to continue collaborating with Frida and Fatima, and that Netflix believed in our idea. Our ambition is to create something fun, challenging and fresh and at the same time tell a story about the times we live in – with five smart upper-class girls from Djursholm who knows no limits as the main characters.”

Barracuda Queens will launch globally on Netflix in 2023. Stay tuned for updates.
