The brand new Italian drama series The Ignorant Angels is set to make its US premiere on Hulu.
Directed by Ferzan Özpetek, the new Italian drama series The Ignorant Angels (Le fate ignoranti) is based on the director’s 2001 film of the same name.
The eight-episode drama stars Cristiana Capotondi (From Father to Daughter) as Antonia, whose lovely life with husband Massimo (Luca Argentero, Eat Pray Love) is turned upside down when he is killed in a car accident. Devastated by the loss of her beloved, she is further shaken by the discovery that he had been having an affair — with a young man named Michele (Eduardo Scarpetta, My Brilliant Friend).
In setting out to learn more about Massimo’s secret life, Antonia meets Michele and his circle of eccentric friends, forming an unexpected yet deep friendship with him and these people who were like a second family for her late husband.
As they mourn the loss of Massimo, Antonia and Michele learn about each other, bond with each other, and come to accept and understand each other. And thanks to Michele and his friends — folks with different backgrounds, lifestyles, and sexual identities, who live in harmony with each other — Antonia begins to shift her perspective on life.
