Netflix has released the trailer for the docuseries Vendetta: Truth, Lies and the Mafia, which hits the streamer next month.
Well, here’s a twist.
The docuseries Vendetta: Truth, Lies and the Mafia delves into the true story behind two of Sicily’s “Anti-Mafia” crusaders, both of whom wound up on trial for major crimes themselves.
One is Pino Maniaci, a television station owner and broadcast investigative journalist in Palermo, Sicily. The other is Silvana Saguto, a now-former judge who oversaw the Prevention Measures section of the Court of Palermo.
After Maniaci turns his attention from station management and editorial duties to investigative journalism, he focuses his news broadcasts on organized crime and the many tentacles of the Sicilian Mafia, including corruption within the ranks of judiciary. One of his targets is Saguto, whom he accuses of clientelistic management of confiscated mafia property. She in turn accuses him of supporting the Mafia families whose property has been confiscated.
Both proclaim their innocence. Both believe the other is guilty. Who’s telling the truth?
Vendetta: Truth, Lies and the Mafia, a Netflix Documentary, premieres globally on Friday, September 24, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
