Currently in the final phase of filming in locations in northern Spain and North America, La Fortuna is the first television series from multiple award-winning director Alejandro Amenábar (The Others, The Sea Inside).

This international production features a stellar cast headed by Oscar® nominee and Primetime Emmy® winner Stanley Tucci (The Lovely Bones, Winchell), Clarke Peters (His Dark Materials), Spanish actors Álvaro Mel (A Different View) and Ana Polvorosa (Cable Girls), and British actress T’Nia Miller (Years and Years). The main cast list is rounded out by Karra Elejalde (Bajocero), Manolo Solo (30 Coins), Blanca Portillo (I Know Who You Are), and Pedro Casablanc (White Lines), amongst others.

In La Fortuna, Álex Ventura (Mel), a young and inexperienced diplomat, unintentionally becomes the leader of a mission that will put all his convictions to the test: to recover the sunken treasure stolen by Frank Wild (Tucci), an adventurer who travels the world plundering items of common heritage from the depths of the sea. Forming a unique team with Lucía (Polvorosa), a combative public official, and Jonas Pierce (Peters), a brilliant American lawyer with a passion for old pirate tales, Álex sets out on the adventure of a lifetime, from which he learns about the importance of love, friendship, and commitment to your own beliefs.

Based on the graphic novel El tesoro del Cisne Negro (The Treasure of the Black Swan) by Paco Roca and Guillermo Corral, La Fortuna consists of six 45-minute episodes written by Alejandro Amenábar, who directs all episodes, and Alejandro Hernández (La línea invisible).

Movistar+ is producing the series in conjunction with AMC Studios and MOD Pictures. The producers are Fernando Bovaira for MOD Pictures and Domingo Corral for Movistar+.

The series was filmed across Spain, including in the Community of Madrid, Cádiz, Guadalajara, A Coruña, Zaragoza, and in the Spanish Government’s headquarters, the Palace of La Moncloa.

La Fortuna will premiere exclusively on Movistar+ in Spain, as well as on AMC and AMC+ in the United States, Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean, later this year.

Stay tuned for updates.
