Euro TV fans in the US can ring in the new year French style, as MHz Choice will premiere the first season of the award-winning Chefs on January 1.
Chefs, the acclaimed drama that won the Best TV Series award at the 2015 Luchon International Film Festival, centers on Romain (Luchon Best Young Actor winner Hugo Becker, A Very Secret Service, Baron Noir, Gossip Girl), a 25-year-old locksmith and convicted felon.
Following his release from prison for fraud, his parole officer secures a job for him in the kitchen of a famous Parisian restaurant run by “the Chef” (César Award winner Clovis Cornillac, The Story of My Life) — a giant of French gastronomy who recognizes Romain’s natural affinity for cooking and takes him under his wing. So begins Romain’s awakening to the art of food, to love, and ultimately to finding his place in the world.
Robin Renucci and Nicolas Gob — former costars in A French Village — are series regulars in Chefs. Renucci plays Edouard, a wealthy man with a dark and mysterious past and a penchant for wooden sabers, while Gob plays Yann, Chef’s second-in-command, who educates Romain on the strict and sometimes brutal hierarchy within a French kitchen.
Also featuring in the series are Anne Charrier (Maison Close), Joyce Bibring (Killer by the Lake), and Zinedine Soualem (Call My Agent!).
Chefs: Season 1 premieres in the US on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, on MHz Choice and the MHz Choice channel on Amazon.
