Viaplay has set the US premiere date for End of Summer, a Nordic noir thriller series from Sweden starring Julia Ragnarsson.
Based on the award-winning crime novel End of Summer by former police officer Anders de la Motte, the first title in his “Seasons Quartet” series, the Scandi noir television series End of Summer (Slutet på sommaren) stars Julia Ragnarsson (Blinded, Spring Tide, The Bridge) as Vera, a grief counseling therapist.
One day a new person joins her therapy group: Isak (Erik Enge, Delete Me, Exit), who recalls memories from his disappearance in childhood. For Vera, his story is strikingly similar to that of her own childhood, when her little brother, Billy, inexplicably vanished twenty years ago. This prompts Vera to return to her childhood home to try to unravel the mystery of Billy’s fate and help Isak discover his true identity.
Having recently aired in the UK on BBC Four (and currently available for streaming on iPlayer), End of Summer premieres in the US on Tuesday, September 10, exclusively on Viaplay partner channels, including Viaplay on Prime Video Channels.
The cast of the six-episode drama includes Simon J. Berger (Exit), Vilhelm Blomgren (Clark), Rolf Lydahl (Bäckström), and Torkel Petersson (The Unlikely Murderer), amongst others.
Written by Björn Carlström (The Hunters) and Stefan Thunberg (Love Me), the series is directed by Jens Jonsson (Blinded) and Henrik Georgsson (The Bridge).
