North American streaming service MHz Choice announced today its acquisition of Zorro, a French adaptation of the classic “Zorro” tales starring Oscar® winner Jean Dujardin.

Based on the characters created by Johnston McCulley in his “Zorro” works, which have been adapted into dozens of movies and filmed pieces since the 1920s, this French Zorro stars Oscar® winner Jean Dujardin (The Artist) as the titular swashbuckling character.
Set in 1821, Zorro finds Don Diego de la Vega (Dujardin) unexpectedly becoming mayor of Los Angeles. As his beloved city faces financial problems due to the greed of local businessman Don Emmanuel (Eric Elmosnino, Reformed), Diego decides to call on his alter ego, Zorro, for a helping hand. Donning the mask for the first time in twenty years, he must then reconcile his dual identity as Zorro and mayor, as well as shield his secret identity from his wife, Gabriella (Audrey Dana, The Traveller).
Zorro is slated to premiere in the US and Canada on Tuesday, June 30, exclusively on MHz Choice and its digital channels, including MHz Choice on Prime Channels.
You can check out snippets of the show in MHz’s “coming in 2026” reel below.
When MHz Choice launches Zorro this summer, it will be the first availability of the eight-episode limited series in the US and Canada. (It originally premiered on France 2 in December 2024, followed by a roll-out to select international markets on Paramount+.) Also to be included for North American viewers is a “making of” special that details the process of reimagining Zorro in this new French iteration.
Said Lance Schwulst, Executive Vice President, Content Strategy, MHz Choice:
“Zorro marks the most well-known IP we’ve brought to MHz to date. There are a lot of Zorro adaptations, but this one really stood out to us as unlike any other we’ve seen. It’s fun, adventurous, sexy and cheeky, and with Jean Dujardin as the man behind the mask, who would say no?”
And Zorro producer Marc Dujardin stated:
“This new version of Zorro was conceived in the tradition of swashbuckling films and French vaudeville. The result is a delightful blend of spectacular action and romantic comedy. We are absolutely thrilled that our version of Zorro can be discovered by American audiences. Although he is a hero who has always been at the crossroads of diverse cultural and historical references, he was born in the mind of an American author who loved California: Johnston McCulley.”
Shot entirely in Spain, the series was created by Benjamin Charbit (Under Control, Gagarine, Notre Dame, Savages, The Trouble with You) and Noé Debré (Parliament, Stillwater, Dheepan), who serve as co-writers alongside Emmanuel Poulain-Arnaud (The Test). The series was directed by Jean-Baptiste Saurel (Parallels) and Emilie Noblet (Parliament, The 7 Lives of Lea). It was co-produced by Paramount+, France Télévisions, Marc Dujardin’s Le Collectif 64, and Julien Seul’s Bien Sûr Productions.
