The addition of the trio of series — dramedies Adults and Suburbia, and character-driven comedy The Second Run — to Viaplay Content Distribution’s international catalogue further allows Viaplay Group’s distribution division to showcase the diversity of Nordic storytelling with the shows’ sharp humor, emotional depth, and compelling narratives.

Adults

In this sharply-observed dramedy series about love, lies, and life pain, Mathilda’s life is on track with her promising career, stable relationship, and no major drama. But when her boyfriend drops a surprise marriage proposal, her perfectly-curated world tilts off its axis. As Mathilda navigates mounting pressures and a secret affair, the story explores ambition, expectations, and the sheer panic of possibly getting everything you thought you wanted.

The 8×44′ series stars Carla Sehn (The Åre Murders, Love & Anarchy), David Dencik (Prisoner, The Chestnut Man), Simon Reithner (Hostage, Beck), and Rakel Wärmländer (Limbo, Sunny Side).

Created by Amanda Högberg (Love & Anarchy) and Daniel Karlsson (Thin Blue Line), Adults is directed by Felix Herngren (Bonus Family), Måns Herngren (The Restaurant), and Adam Pålsson (Meaning of Life).

Suburbia

Skewering middle-class malaise with deadpan narration, biting humor, and impeccable writing, this razor-sharp dramedy is about one man’s slow-motion meltdown in the land of padel (a racket sport), passive aggression, and painfully-perfect lawns. Anders has everything he’s supposed to want: a suburban dream house, a beautiful family, and a respectable job. He also despises all of it: the status games, the forced small talk, the fake dinner parties. When his daughter is bullied at school, Anders finally snaps. What begins as righteous anger spirals into a deliciously unhinged campaign of suburban sabotage.

Mattias Nordkvist (The Breakthrough, The Shift) leads the cast of this six-episode, half-hour series, which costars Sanna Sundqvist (All and Eva, Tore), Johan Widerberg (Bäckström, Spring Tide), and Helena af Sandeberg (Dough, Quicksand).

Suburbia is directed by Henrik Schyffert (Furia) alongside John Nordling (Vi i villa), and written by head writer Tove Eriksen Hillblom (Meaning of Life) and writer Maria Nygren (Love & Anarchy).

The Second Run

Set against the stunning backdrop of a remote ski resort, this warm and witty comedy series sees city dwellers Madde and Petter dream of trading their fast-paced Stockholm life for a cozy mountain retreat, running a small family-owned hotel. But reality hits hard as disasters pile up; unruly guests, unpredictable weather, and family drama threaten to turn their fresh start into a spectacular failure.

The Second Run is directed by Felix Herngren (Sunny Side), Martin Persson (Bonus Family), Eddie Åhgren (Meaning of Life), and Emma Bucht (The Simple Heist), and penned by Niclas Carlsson (Bonus Family), Erik Hultkvist (Blinded), and Tapio Leopold (Fallet).
