Prime Video announced today that production has started on Season 2 of the hit German drama series Maxton Hall – The World Between Us.

Everyone connected to Maxton Hall – The World Between Us (Maxton Hall – Die Welt zwischen uns) must be over the moon with the show’s success, as it is the most successful Amazon International Original series in Prime Video history — having garnered the largest-ever first week global viewership for an International Original title and having reached the number 1 spot on the Prime Video Charts in over 120 countries and territories.
There’s also been the “Maxton Hall effect,” the halo effect of the show’s popularity. Series stars Damian Hardung and Harriet Herbig-Matten saw activity on their social media channels increase 480% and 3,900%, respectively, since the series launched on May 9, 2024. In addition, the city of Hanover in Saxony, Germany, saw an increase in travel interest of more than 400%.
Season 1 of Maxton Hall is based on Mona Kasten’s best-selling novel Save Me, the first title in the “Save” trilogy. The drama centers on the love story between arrogant millionaire heir James Beaufort (Damian Hardung, Our Miracle Years) and quick-witted scholarship student Ruby Bell (Harriet Herbig-Matten, The Nordic Murders) at Maxton Hall private school. When she unwittingly witnesses an explosive secret, he is determined to keep her quiet by trying to buy her silence. But their passionate exchange of words unexpectedly ignites a spark, and although the two come from different worlds, they will soon put everything at risk to be together.

In Season 2, which is based on Kasten’s second “Save” novel, Save You, everything seems to be going perfectly for Ruby, as she and James had spent a passionate night together in Oxford and her greatest goal in life came within reach. But a stroke of fate in James’s family changes everything, and James himself, of all people, wrenches her from cloud nine to a harsh reality, devastating Ruby. She has never had such strong feelings for anyone as she has for James, nor has she ever been as hurt by anyone as she has by James. Now she wants her old life back, the one in which no one at Maxton Hall knew her and she wasn’t a part of the elitist world of her classmates. But she can’t forget James, especially since he’s doing everything he can to win her back…
In addition to Hardung and Herbig-Matten, other cast members returning for Season 2 include Sonja Weißer (Tatort: Borowski) as Lydia, Ben Felipe (Pagan Peak) as Cyril, Fedja van Huêt (The Adulterer) as Mortimer, Runa Greiner (The Interpreter of Silence) as Ember, Justus Riesner (Loving Her) as Alistair, and Andrea Guo (We Are the Wave) as Lin.
Also returning is Martin Schreier (One Night Off) to direct the second season of Maxton Hall – The World Between Us. The Season 2 producers include Markus Brunnemann and Ceylan Yildirim, who also serves as showrunner and head writer of the series. Valentin Debler is once again the producer for UFA Fiction.
