Warner Bros. Discovery announced today the cast of mystery-crime drama series When Nobody Sees Us, the first Spanish-produced series announced for Max.
When Nobody Sees Us (Cuando nadie nos ve), based on the novel of the same name by Sergio Sarria (published by Espasa), stars Maribel Verdú (Elite, You Cannot Hide), Mariela Garriga (The Alligator, Murders at Barlume), Austin Amelio (Fear The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead), Ben Temple (30 Coins, High Seas), and Dani Rovira (100 Meters, Spanish Affair).
The story takes place during Holy Week 2024 in Morón de la Frontera, a town in Andalusia, southern Spain, located adjacent to a local US Army base. Lucía Gutiérrez (Maribel Verdú) is a sergeant with the Civil Guard who investigates the unusual suicide of a neighbor as well as a series of other strange events that occur during the first Easter procession. Magaly Castillo (Mariela Garriga) is a US Army special agent sent to the Morón de la Frontera base to investigate the whereabouts of a missing American soldier who seems to have connections to a mystery linked to Colonel Seamus Hoopen (Ben Temple), head of the base area. The lone military policeman, Sergeant Andrew Taylor (Austin Amelio), accompanies Magaly in her investigations. They soon discover that the two investigations are connected, and that the case is more complex than they had assumed, as it involves both the residents of Morón de la Frontera and American military personnel from the nearby base.
Additional cast include Lucía Jiménez (Apaches), Numa Paredes (The Invisible Girl), María Alfonsa Rosso (Volver), Eloy Azorín (High Seas), Virginia de Morata (Caronte), Carlos Beluga, Lorca Prada (Adios), and Ana María Vivancos (The Plague).
Created by Daniel Corpas (Malaka) and written by a team led by Arturo Ruiz (Fúria), with the collaboration of José Antonio Valverde (High Seas), Germán Aparicio (Memento Mori), and Isabel Sánchez, the series is directed by Enrique Urbizu (Giants, Captain Alatriste).
Filming on the eight fifty-minute episodes began this week in Madrid and will continue to run for several months in Morón de la Frontera (Seville) and across other locations in Andalusia and Madrid.
The series is produced by Zeta Studios for Warner Bros. Discovery in Spain. Antonio Asensio, Paloma Molina, and Salvador Yagüe are executive producers for Zeta Studios. Alberto Carullo, Antonio Trashorras, and David Ocaña are executive producers for Warner Bros. Discovery.
Stay tuned for updates.
