Netflix has announced three new Euro TV series for its global audience, including another collaboration with best-selling author Harlan Coben.

Netflix

Gone for Good

Adapted from Harlan Coben‘s best-selling novel of the same name, this French Netflix Original series is the fourth collaboration between the author and Netflix. (The other three are the British series The Stranger, the Polish series The Woods, and the upcoming Spanish series El Inocente.)

Gone for Good, a five-part thriller, will star Finnegan Oldfield (Das Boot), Nicolas Duvauchelle (Braquo), Guillaume Gouix (The Returned), and Garance Marillier (Ad Vitam), along with Nailia Harzoune (Les petits meurtres d’Agatha Christie), Grégoire Colin (Black Spot), and Tomas Lemarquis (Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga).

Thirty-something Guillaume Lucchesi (Finnegan Oldfield) thought he had drawn a line under the terrible tragedy that saw the two people he loved the most die: Sonia (Garance Marillier), his first love, and Fred (Nicolas Duvauchelle), his brother. Ten years later, Judith (Nailia Harzoune), whose love has made his life worth living again, suddenly disappears during Guillaume’s mother’s funeral. To find her, Guillaume will have to face all the truths that were hidden from him by his family and friends, as well as those that he’d long decided to ignore — for better, but mostly for worse.

A production of Calt Studio (Xavier Matthieu), the series is directed by Juan Carlos Medina (A Discovery of Witches), executive produced by Harlan Coben, and created and written by David Elkaïm (The Churchmen) and Vincent Poymiro (Chefs) in collaboration with Pauline Guena (Detectives), Nacim Mehtar (Unité 42), and Marion Festraëts (Chefs).

Production on Gone for Good will begin in September 2020.

Soil

Netflix is partnering with production company Lunanime and media company SBS Belgium to launch the Belgian series Soil (Grond) globally outside of Belgium, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, where Netflix will stream the drama after local broadcasters premiere it.

When a Muslim dies in Belgium, their family is left with the dilemma: Do we bury them here or do we honor their last wishes and take them back to where they were born? The young Ishmael ‘Smile’ Boulasmoum, who together with his sister inherits his father’s repatriation business, comes up with a solution: What if we bring soil from Morocco to bury our dead in it? Without realizing it, they open Pandora’s ‘coffin.’

The eight-episode drama stars Yassine Ouaich (Women of the Night), Charlotte De Bruyne (The Twelve), Barbara Sarafian (Professor T), Tom Vermeir (The Day), Reinhilde Decleir (Hotel Beau Séjour), Saïd Boumazoughe (GR5), Mourade Zeguendi (Champion), Ahlaam Teghadouini (Hoodie), Dries Heyneman (The Natives), Ward Kerremans (Black Widow), Emilie De Roo (16+), and Wannes Cappelle (The Natives).

The original screenplay is based on the idea by Zouzou Ben Chikha (The Twelve), Dries Heyneman, and Wannes Capelle. Adil El Arbi (Gangsta) and Bilall Fallah (Bad Boys For Life) will direct the series alongside Mathieu Mortelmans (Unité 42). Jan De Clercq (State of Happiness) of Lunanime is the producer.

A Lumière production, Soil will premiere in Belgium on VIER and will be available on Netflix worldwide six months after the last episode’s air date, as well as on Telenet in Belgium.

As Yet Untitled Swedish Series

This new coming-of-age drama follows Prince Wilhelm, who finally gets the chance to explore his true self and to find out what kind of life he really wants after he arrives at the prestigious Swedish boarding school. He starts dreaming of a future filled with freedom and unconditional love, far away from royal obligations. But when he unexpectedly becomes next in line for the throne, his dilemma grows: He must make a choice. Love or duty.

Created by Lisa Ambjörn (Sommaren-85), Lars Beckung (The Cake General), and Camilla Holter (Playmakers), the six-part series is written by Lisa Ambjörn (head writer), Pia Gradvall (Agent Hamilton), Sofie Forsman (Elsas Värld), and Tove Forsman. It will be produced by Lisa Berggren Eyre (Modus) and Martin Söder (Maria Wern) at Nexiko, executive produced by Lars Beckung, and directed by Rojda Sekersöz (Beyond Dreams).

The as yet untitled series will launch globally on Netflix in 2021.

Stay tuned for updates on all the above.
