Created by Eilif Skodvin and Anne Bjørnstad, the duo who created Lilyhammer, Beforeigners is a six-part sci-fi crime drama set in the near future.

All over the world, as powerful flashes of light occur in the ocean, people from three time periods in the past — the Stone Age, the Viking Age, and the late 1800s — begin appearing in the modern day.

No one understands how this is even possible, and the people from the past, called “beforeigners,” have no memory of what’s happened.

One beforeigner from the Viking Age is Alfhildr Enginsdottir (Krista Kosonen, Dogs Don’t Wear Pants, Second Chance). A couple years after her arrival in Oslo, she’s teamed up with burned-out cop Lars Haaland (Nicolai Cleve Broch, Acquitted, The Half Brother) as part of the police department’s integration program. While investigating the murder of a woman with Stone Age tattoos, Lars and Alfhildr make surprise discoveries.

A production of Rubicon (Maniac, Lilyhammer), the series is directed by Jens Lien (Sons of Norway, Occupied), and costars Stig R. Amdam (Occupied), Nader Khademi (Home Ground), Jeppe Beck Laursen (Ragnarok), Ingunn Beate Øyen (The Innocents), Mikkel Bratt Silset (Norsemen), and Morten Svartveit (Borderliner).

Beforeigners premieres in the US on Tuesday, February 18, exclusively on HBO NOW®, HBO GO®, and partner streaming platforms, including the HBO channel on Amazon.
