Having recently premiered at the 77th Venice International Film Festival, 30 Coins (30 Monedas) is set to launch in Spain in November and in the US in 2021.

The eight-episode thriller series takes viewers into a world where nothing is as it seems and nobody can be trusted.

Father Vergara (Eduard Fernández, Criminal: Spain, The Zone) is an exorcist, boxer, and ex-convict who is exiled by the church to be the priest of a remote town in Spain. He wants to forget and be forgotten, and to start a new life. But his past comes back to haunt him and his enemies soon find him.

Then strange things begin to happen, and Father Vergara enlists the help of Mayor Paco (Miguel Ángel Silvestre, Velvet, Sense8) and local vet Elena (Megan Montaner, Velvet Colección, The Embassy). As this unlikely task force sets out to find the truth, reality is distorted by a cursed coin at the heart of a global conspiracy.

Produced by HBO Europe in Spain, with participation from HBO Latin America, 30 Coins is directed by acclaimed horror master Álex de la Iglesia (The Day of the Beast, The Last Circus), and co-written by Álex de la Iglesia and Jorge Guerricaechevarría (The Oxford Murders). The Executive Producers for HBO Europe are Steve Matthews, Miguel Salvat, and Antony Root. Álex de la Iglesia and Carolina Bang are Executive Producers for Pokeepsie Films.

HBO will launch 30 Coins in 2021 (date tba). It will also be available to stream on HBO Max.

Stay tuned for updates.
