Get ready for some serious action, my Euro TV friends, because Torpedo, a four-part miniseries from award-winning director, Trygve Allister Diesen, is going to blow you away.

Meet Terje Jonassen (Jørgen Langhelle, Varg Veum). He’s a loving husband and father, a former commando and UN soldier, and one of Oslo’s best torpedoes — an enforcer, a gun for hire, and if need be a hitman. And he’s about to have the worst four days of his life…

Day 1: Terje and his not-always-reliable but fiercely loyal sidekick, Sebastian (Aksel Hennie (Headhunters), pay a nighttime visit to Atle (Gard B. Eidsvold, Good Night, Darling) to collect the 400,000 kroner he owes in poker losses to Siberian mobster Cedomir (Dejan Cukic, Borgia). Except Atle has just some, not all, of the money, and pleads for more time to get the rest. Paying in installments isn’t part of the deal, but Terje gives him until the next morning.

Only there’s a snag. Terje is supposed to be at daughter Anja’s fifth birthday party at the same time that he’s supposed to meet Atle for the cash. And his wife, Sissel (Rebekka Karijord, Varg Veum), is insistent that he celebrate with Anja, her classmates, and their teacher, the Jonassen’s close family friend, Elise (Lisa Werlinder, Wallander).

Rather than disappoint them, Terje takes Sebastian up on his offer and sends him to get the money from Atle. But there’s another snag. Actually two. One dangerous and one fatal. Despite Sebastian’s assurances about handling the job, things don’t go swimmingly at all, and neither Cedomir nor Gard (Morten Faldaas, Into the White), Terje’s agent, as it were, is thrilled that this straightforward assignment has gone completely sideways.

If the day weren’t bad enough already, Terje finds Sissel murdered. Shot. In their apartment. With his weapon.

Days 2, 3, and 4: In the aftermath of two deaths and explaining to Anja about their family tragedy, Terje becomes the main suspect in the killing of Sissel and is interrogated by his close friend and Anja’s godfather, the cop, Tom Andersen (Kyrre Haugen Sydness, Lilyhammer). To find the real killer, prove his innocence, and keep his family together, Terje dives into Oslo’s underworld and goes on the run. But then another unthinkable event occurs: Anja and Elise are kidnapped. How will he save them and himself?

Torpedo is a dark, emotional, roller coaster ride of a thriller, and a must-watch in my book. The four-parter begins tonight on MHz Worldview and MHz Live at 9 PM ET.
